Who do you say you are?

‘Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?’

– Danielle LaPorte

who you are not

It’s a fast world of not only first world problems,

We have white problems, blacks problems, colored problems,

But the understanding is barely standing,

They say:

We are the generation that ambition is everything and integrity is nothing,

We justify our actions with the gone generation, where’s the justice?

We blame our situations with every intention of pointing fingers to all but ourselves,

Yet we take the lead to call ourselves the leaders of tomorrow

We have the traits of a traitor,

The mirror no longer reflects reflection but infections,

We claim to need the challenge yet we hide upon any sight of change,

Protesting with loud voices of rights that have no light in the night

We should be more sober with Mutotho laws but we are drunk of an illusion of our creation

We are first to say drugs are killing us yet we have prescription because we need the edge

We claim life is too short as we sip that shot of tequila not realizing we taking the shots

We are the generation who own so much pain yet we don’t want to keep it

We fail to understand the freedoms we enjoy are not given but were provided

We fail to recognize the efforts of the struggle and trouble our elders with no appreciation

We seek our opinions to be heard yet we hard on hearing other peoples’ opinions

We are deaf to our own insecurities yet we are loudest to say ‘Haki yetu’

We’re taking short cuts that when all is said and done are not short

We lack the vision because we slack on the mission to the provision

We have fear proving ourselves and leave opportunities that would be improving

We fail to nurture passion to portfolio and seek compassion for the unrealized passion

We are the generation who own so much pain and are still in denial of our foolishness

We are the generation who dream big and want it all, yet are reluctant to put in the work

We are the generation who refuse to be shaped, but want structure without the nurture

Ambition, precision, determination is the concoction of this generation

The confusion may cause the concussion that lead to all the excursions

But how we go about it is the question for the quest

We are the generation for an unknown nation, because no one truly gets who we are

But we are the generation that want it all ……..….. LOVE, PEACE, JOY, UNITY!

They say this generation that! This generation is!

Who are you in this generation?

Who do you say you are?

may you be happy

ALL I KNOW IS WE ARE THE GENERATION WHO WANT ALL THIS WORLD HAS TO OFFER!

Ask. Believe. Receive……………….Go The Extra Mile.

This particular piece drove it home, this generation, our generation is misunderstood a lot. We seem complex but just like you said it we want all this world has to offer……We trying to make the most out of this life.

I love the piece……..And who do I say I am? I say I am the child of the Most High, Entitled to everything that God and this world has to offer.

  2. Okay I knew you were good but damn girl!! This is brilliant. I have to say, this is so true. I can relate. I think all of us should take a step back and analyze the lives we want to have. I believe we should start addressing these issues head on, say no to mediocrity we have so much to embrace and live up to the standards we rightly deserve.

And you should win an award now.
